Worship Services

  • Sunday: 8am, Classic [on hiatus until September]
  • Sunday: 9 & 10:45am, Contemporary

When it comes to the core values of Village Church, worship tops the list. We believe the gathering of believers for worship is foundational to the life of our church family and is our highest priority. When we gather together to sing and worship we create an outward expression of how God is forming us as his people.

We realize that one worship style doesn't fit everyone, so we worship in many different ways – contemporary, traditional, and in between. We use a variety of mediums in worship at Village Church - music, choir, solos, drama, video, scripture reading and prayer, among many others – including brand new ideas from time to time.

Above all, corporate worship at Village Church is driven by three ideals:

  • God-centered – our desire is that every element of our worship brings glory to God.
  • Excellence – not for our satisfaction, but we seek to bring our best before the Lord.
  • Edifying – our aim is that every feature challenges, encourages and inspires the worshippers of Village Church.

At Village Church, worship is about spirit & truth – we want to be fervent and honest before the Lord.

Worship Band & Vocal Team
The view of Village Church is that every band member and vocalist is a leader of worship.  Therefore it is important that each musician has a Christ-focused attitude both on and off stage and not a spirit of performance or showmanship.  Joining the band or vocal team requires a 45 minute interview/audition with the Worship Pastor and entails Tuesday rehearsals (6:45-9:15pm) on the weeks the musician is scheduled for service, as well as a Sunday pre-service sound check.  Auditions are open to anyone high school age and older.

Worship Choir
The view of Village Church is that every choir member, like the band and vocal team, is also a leader of worship.  The Worship Choir participates in the 9 & 10:45am services twice per month presenting “special” numbers for the edification of the church and assists the band and vocal team in leading the corporate worship music.  Joining the Worship Choir requires the ability to carry a tune, section placement by the Choir Director and entails weekly Thursday evening rehearsals from 7-9pm, which begins with a time of devotion and prayer.  Those who participate in the Worship Choir also form the cast for Village Church productions.  Choir participation is open to anyone high school age and older.

Worship Orchestra
The brass, winds and strings participate in the worship service about twice per month – though not each musician participates each time.  Rehearsals coincide with Tuesday night worship band and vocals rehearsal. Currently, we can accommodate the following instruments: trumpet/cornet, trombone/baritone, tuba, alto sax, tenor sax, baritone sax, clarinet, flute, oboe, horn, violin, viola & cello.  We apologize that we are not taking any kazoos, hurdy gurdies, or bowafridgeaphones at this time.

Serve in Tech Support

Serve in Tech Support

Tech Support Team
Even though the Tech Support Team serves behind the scenes, we believe such positions should be filled by people who have a humble, cooperative spirit, are committed to excellence and are eager to serve in a team atmosphere. We realize that people have varying levels of experience with technical equipment, so we provide regular training for each Tech Support Team role. Each role has its own unique commitments and requirements, so please read on...

Audio
Commitments: Tuesday night rehearsal on your scheduled week as well as a Sunday pre-service sound check. Audio techs are expected to serve for both worship services (9 & 10:45am).
Requirements: Attending an audio tech training session and “on-the-job” training during multiple services.

Lighting
Commitments: Tuesday night rehearsal on your scheduled week as well as a Sunday pre-service lighting check. Lighting techs are expected to serve for both worship services (9 & 10:45am).
Requirement: Observation and training during multiple services.
Note:  Lighting techs join the team by merely running the lighting cues for the worship services (programming done by another tech). Once they become familiar with the equipment they are trained to design and program. Training is done by the Lighting Director.

Projection
Commitments: Though Tuesday night rehearsals are not required, projection techs must attend the Sunday pre-service projection check.  Projection techs are expected to serve for both worship services (9 & 10:45am).
Requirement: Observation and training during multiple services.
Note:  Projection techs are responsible for running the projection cues for the worship services and are not expected to design and program, which is done by the Artistic Director.

Recording & Video (RV)
Commitments: Sunday pre-service set-up and recording check.  RV techs are expected to serve for both worship services (9 & 10:45am).
Requirement: Observation and training during multiple worship services.  As controlling tripod-mounted video cameras is an essential element of this support role, RV techs must be able to stand for 30 minutes, have a steady hand and an eye for framing video shots.
